Simon Field | Wine-dark color, elegant and honest, a little fade at the rim. Aromatics of fig and dark chocolate; there are Parma Violets on the palate and a hint of sweetness; the tannins submissive but fine, the overview heady and edging an overassertive hollow core. | 87
Andrew Jefford | Saturated dark black-red in color. Dark, smoky, brooding, and enticing aromas of roasted blackberries and crushed, pounded pepper and spice: richly alluring. Behind those primary elements you can see some stony, earthy, forest-like, or leathery complexities: a fine aromatic profile, and one of the most complete and enticing in the whole tasting. Supple, vivid, and full, with a very attractive roasty ripeness to the complex black fruits: blackcurrant, blackberry, plum, damson. As on the nose, there are some nascent complexities behind the fruits with a year or two’s further storage will bring out. A hugely attractive wine with multiple fronts of appeal: aromatic wealth, poise, and liveliness, structure and satisfaction. 2018–30. | 95
Jancis Robinson | Mid-crimson. Slightly stewed nose and rather a lack of freshness on the palate, but it’s a solid cocktail of southern French flavors. Just a little soupy, with a bit of dryness on the end. No shortage of slightly rustic tannin. 2019–23. | 88
