Simon Field | Expressive nose of myrtle, eucalypt, and cassis—a very tuneful descant, with a weight of eloquent fruit behind. A touch burned, quite sinewy, autumnal, and smoky, gently vegetal, good length. | 90
Andrew Jefford | Deep though not opaque black-red. A slightly tired aromatic profile here, without a lot of fresh fruit appeal and even an odd note of camphor. I’m surprised it’s 2016; it seems older. On the palate, this is a wine of concentration, depth, and drive, but the lack of fruit precision in such a young wine and its overall rather rough-and-ready style holds it back a little. Yet again, I would stress that I could happily drink this, and its depth means that it has a certain authority. 2018–20. | 86
Jancis Robinson | Straight crimson. Broad and rich and sweet on the nose—pretty evolved. Some cassis liqueur flavor. Gently made, with some subtlety and a little saltiness. Relatively delicate, with transparency and freshness. Long and reverberant. Already quite smooth. 2018–26. | 90
