Simon Field | The Cardinal’s robe has a faint luminosity at its rim, then a nose of tobacco and Provençal herbs, the fruit a little mute at the moment. This rigorous/religious profile is maintained in the mouth, the gloss highlighted by high-toned florality, and a minty flourish at the back. Assertive and self-assured, the strand of natural acidity maintaining structural integrity and sure to uphold the shape. | 89
Andrew Jefford | Dark black-red. Sweet and warm, with lots of garrigue charm. A relatively simple aroma compared to the best of its peers, but as “classically Languedoc” as you like. On the palate, this is concentrated, lively, fresh, and pristine, with admirable fruit focus and poise. Beyond the intense and still youthful fruit core, the wine has firm tannins, moderately lively acidity, and some finishing herbs and spices. A great all-rounder and exactly the kind of wine drinkers should be searching out as they look to widen the fine-wine net. 2018–22. | 90
Jancis Robinson | Mid-crimson. Mellow, supple, ripe nose. Not an attention-grabber but a very solid representative of what the Languedoc has to offer. Slightly rustic tannins. Medium weight with a bit of a hole in the middle. A slight bitterness on the end of the black-fruit flavor. 2019–24. | 88
