Simon Field | Effusive color and youthful, somewhat unformed aromas. This is slightly stewed on the palate, not enough give and too sinewy in the mouth; a vintage issue in all probability, as there is a real dark fruit potential behind it all. | 87
Andrew Jefford | Saturated deep black-red. An exciting aroma, though with some wildness and unpredictability to it: mixed ripeness, withatomato note, as well as some red fruits that weren’t at all apparent in the wines from 2015 and 2016 (which only show black fruits). Not unattractive for all that. This is ripe, ample, and well developed on the palate, with plenty of freshness to give the fruit lift and poise. Happily, there is no tomato note on the palate. A well-crafted, satisfying, and well-structured 2014 wine. 2018–21. | 84
Jancis Robinson | Dark crimson. Intense and tarry on the nose. Sweet and a little simple and pinched. Lots of fine tannin and acidity but not that much essential character on the palate. Solid and robust but a bit clunky. And a bit of heat on the end. Sweet and salty. 2017–21. | 88
