Simon Field | A somewhat compromised and oxidized example; there is something a little dirty on the palate, and the tannins cleave with awkward persistence. | 79
Andrew Jefford | Very deep, dark black-red, just off opaque. A tired, rather oxidized nose, I’m afraid; unsuccessful aging and/or bottling. “Old style” is the best one can say. It’s very dense, very ripe, and amply extracted on the palate, with some powerful tannins to push the motor; low acidity by contrast, but not excessively so, since the tannins provide most of the balance. However, that oxidized aromatic note (I think two bottles have been tried) really rules out a high score. I could still drink this wine, I should say. 2018–20. | 84
Jancis Robinson | Subtle dark garnet color with some evolution. First bottle oxidized. Second bottle fresher, though perhaps on the cusp. Round, with very low tannins and perhaps just a little too much opulence and ripeness. Shame, because the fruit was probably potentially promising, but the fruity core has been rather boiled out of the middle. This is far from industrial wine, but the odd questionable winemaking decision seems to have been made. 2017–20. | 87
