BUY THE WINE

Andrew Jefford | Dark black-red. Rather soapy-sweet scents that, strangely enough, seem to lack freshness and lift (and you can’t often say that this year). Very ripe wine (an achievement), yet the year doesn’t quite deliver the density that this approach needs in order to work, and the effect is a little bit fatiguing. It does have structure, though, and better concentration than many. 2018–22. | 86

Michael Schuster | Sweetly juicy nose, gently gravelly; nicely balanced, crisply defined, ripe in fruit, slightly dry from its oak tannin, but a satisfying, gently juicy claret, crisp in character, with a modest complexity, and nice light length. Now to 2026+. | 88
