Andrew Jefford | Dark black-red in color. Earthier, deeper, gruffer aromas than Fleur-Petrus: more the clay- soiled style. There are plums, and there is earth, and they are mano a mano just now. Lacks the charm of La Fleur-Pétrus for the time being. On the palate, too, this is a bit plodding just now by comparison with the carnival entertainments of Fleur-Pétrus: the clay again. But the fruit is as deep as you like, and it does have great depth and length, great power and penetration. Fine tannins, too, though they are buried in the fruit for the time being. The quality of the vintage emerges in the faint coolness of style of that fruit. 2018–28. | 92
Michael Schuster | Dense, closed, “sappy” nose, minerally, too. Rich, full-bodied, vital, and firmly tannic wine—a long-term, robust constitution; long, dense, flavory Pomerol, ample, tannic, powerful, tasty; an imposing wine, complex and tasty and with fine aromatic length. Needs to mellow. 2030–45+. | 93
