Stephen Brook | There’s citrus as well as stone-fruits aromas on the nose, and the oak is more evident than on the Cypres. The attack is sleek and silky, with ripe acidity backing up the apricot fruit. It’s not very nuanced or demonstrative at present, but Climens is often a slow burner. Very long but subdued with a beguiling texture. | 94
Andrew Jefford | Pale to mid-gold. Rich and fragrant, with a multitude of delicate floral scents: jasmine, freesia, carnation. The fruit is lemony, with a little ginger spice; subtle oaking adds richness without ever intruding on the wine’s expressive range or harmony. At the very start of its life, but richly promising. Very fresh, with a cascade of bright, lemony acidity; the sweetness is so intense yet so balanced that it seems to dance on the tongue. The allusions suggested on the aromas haven’t yet materialized on the palate, but give them time. A very grand Climens in the offing. 2020–35. | 97
