Stephen Brook | The nose is slightly dusty, and it’s hard to detect much botrytis. Perhaps it’s slightly masked aromatically by the SO2. On the palate there is a clarity that is often a hallmark of Rayne but little complexity. There’s little opulence or weight of fruit. Apple compote rather than stone fruits on the palate. Nor is the acidity of the vintage much in evidence. Overall, this is a bit lame and pedestrian. | 85

Andrew Jefford | Pale gold. Not much aromatic sweetness: some orange citrus, and some meaty tones, too. (The second wines of Sauternes properties can be aromatically unpredictable.) Smooth, sweet, gratifying, but rather featureless on the palate; the aromas were more allusive than the flavors at present. 2018–22. | 84
