Stephen Brook | Light gold. This has a wonderfully heady botrytis nose, with abundant aromas of stone fruits, mango, and oranges. The attack is dreamily creamy, with a seductive texture and enough acidity to balance the sumptuous fruit. It’s already approachable but has so much stuffing and weight of fruit that it should age effortlessly. A grand, no-holds-barred style marrying opulence and elegance. Very long. | 96
Andrew Jefford | Deep lemon-gold. Opulent, rich, extravagant, oak-cossetted, and lush, this is a superb Sauternes aroma, packed with good things already: nuts, caramel, butter, peaches, honey, vanilla, nougatine —glorious and indulgent. This is certainly the weightiest of all our Sauternes cohort on the palate, freighting the tongue with that same indulgent spectrum of allusions. The acidity is much lower than for some of its peers, but this wine makes up with lavish botrytis, oak richness, and glycerol (and there is ripe pineapple acidity there nonetheless). Spectacularly good, and giving much more at this stage than Coutet and Climens. I feel sure it will continue to give. 2018–35. | 97
