Alison Buchanan: Lovely depth of color here, intense tawny- amber—immediately enticing. The nose is equally attractive, a lovely blend of candied citrus and caramelized nut, grilled orchard fruit and mocha cream. The palate is a delight, echoing the aromatics presented on the nose, all set with a silken structure. Layered and complex, forever setting new flavor parameters, this intrigues and beguiles even if essentially very opulent. Chocolate-orange cream on the long finish. | 92
Andrew Jefford: This looks (assuming colors don’t lie) at least twice the age of [Pfeiffer Topaque], which it succeeds. Slightly murky scents without the beguiling appeal of the best wines in this tasting: sweet coffee grounds and garage workshops. Very sweet on the palate: choice and treacly. A little simple, though, by comparison with the burnished and finialed intricacy of the best. | 83
Margaret Rand: Mahogany colored with a greenish rim. Earl Grey nose and palate, intense, linear, cream-textured, thick, and rich. Very good acidity. Tense, taut. Benchmark Topaque. | 92
