Alison Buchanan: Deep mahogany-tawny with dark amber rim, this has a very somber, avuncular nose, dried fruits and earthy minerals, mince pies and dark chocolate. The palate reflects the aromatics presented on the nose but is altogether much more opulent and gregarious than the nose suggests, super-rich with liquid dried fruit, fudge notes and mocha cream— more than decadent. Silk-textured and intensely concentrated, with just enough energy— powerful and long. | 88
Andrew Jefford: Deep umber-walnut in color. Orange and ginger, stirred into a treacly swirl. Lacks a little aromatic refinement and precision, though, compared to the best of its peers. On the palate, it is perhaps a little overweighty and underperfumed; the orange goes missing, though the ginger survives and finds a little rose at the end. But you have to fight your way through a ton of sugar to find these things; some saltiness for balance. A bit galumphing, though generous. | 87
Margaret Rand: Very sweet, rich, lush; some savouriness to lift it. For lovers of sweetness. Good freshness, well structured; fruity, spicy flavors. | 86
