Simon Field | Fulsome of hue and nose, child of a confident vintage; woodsmoke, graphite, and self-belief resonate; the gentle hint of herbaceousness never declines into astringency; an edgy, full-bodied, rich, challenging, and successful rendition. | 93
Andrew Jefford | Still very dense black-red. Earthy, gutsy, sweetly impressive, with raspberry fruit beneath: complex and harmonious scents of detail and amplitude. Perhaps the best aroma of the tasting thus far. (I am on wine 24.) There is oak here, but the density of the fruit carries it well. Rich, full, and vivid, though the richness is now one of mature fruit flavor rather than anything notably extractive or textural. The fruit, too, has long its bloom of youth. A wholly enjoyable Bourgueil from a good vintage at full maturity. I wouldn’t keep it much longer, though. | 90
Charles Metcalfe | Savory, earthy, developed aromas, but pleasantly so. Firm tannins dominate the whole, but there’s rich fruit under, waiting for a chance to shine. There’s still a lot of oak flavor but also fruit under, which might emerge at some stage. Oak sits on top at present but might integrate with the fruit in time. | 88
