Simon Field | Alluring perfumes; spice and ripe red fruit combined; palate is broad and generous, spice and perfume at the back, tannic grip on the balustrade, and a finely etched, gently floral finish. An eloquent illustration of a persuasive potential. | 91

Andrew Jefford | Very deep in color for a 2011: dark black-red, though not opaque anymore. Some sweet spicy oak here, but lots of fresh early season red fruits and currants behind. Vivid, lively, brisk, and ample on the palate; stylistically very well judged, and spot on for the appellation. The palate has all the vividness and freshness you expect, yet it teases and tantalizes with its suggestions of richness, too. The structure is satisfactory, and it now has the harmony of age. Tuck in. This is a more primary, fruit-first style than the other 2011 Chinon, but both are very good in their own way. I don’t see either aging for much longer with any profit, though; neither quite has the density of fruit or firmness of structure to carry the years. | 90

Charles Metcalfe | Good evolution from this cooler year, with pleasant tobacco-leaf aromas. The palate is firm and fresh, tobacco-leaf flavors tinged with something greener. Tannins are gentle, acidity crisp. Fully mature, with pleasantly evolved flavors. A delightful example of a mature wine from a cooler year. | 90
