Simon Field | Attractive purple-magenta color, then nicely defined aromatic profile; summer pudding, loganberry, and soft spice. The palate is ripe in deference to the vintage, soft and approachable; a slightly more modern take but one that will not fail to please. | 89
Andrew Jefford | Deep black-red. Sweet, curranty, peppery scents: attractive. Both fresh and rich, which is a kind of Loire red ideal. There’s even a perfumed, floral character to that fruit: super. On the palate, this is round, smooth, vivid, and attractive, with ample ripeness, no trace of grassiness and no trace either of any excessive acidity. It is, though, just a little simple, without any great drive or push of fruit intensity, but no one could quibble with the style or the aromatic finesse.| 88
Charles Metcalfe | Fresh, oaky, ripe-fruited aromas. This is young, from a ripe, sunny year, and should come together well. Flavors are oak-dominated at present, but there’s very ripe, plummy fruit under, and this should integrate. Spicy cinnamon notes from the oak are noticeable at the moment and could contribute to complexity further down the track. Length is good and presages complexity to come. | 90
