BUY THE WINE

Simon Field | Dense color. The nose recalls burned toast, raspberry essence. The tannins are a little unresolved on the palate, where cooked, somewhat coarse and almost green notes are in the ascendant. Neat and poised—a nicely constructed wine. | 87

Andrew Jefford | Deep, clear dark red. Earthy and warm aromas, with fresh, ripe, mature Cab Franc notes of raspberry and fresh plum; some cedary fullness, too. Vivid, fresh, and lively on the palate, though here things are a little less generous than the nose suggested they would be, and there is a cool note to the acidity and a little finishing acidic bite. I’d drink up, in other words, but there is still plenty to enjoy here, and the wine shows the harmonious virtues of maturity. | 87

Charles Metcalfe | Ripe aromas, slightly dominated by oak. This is smooth-tannined, with good acidity and ripe fruit, but the oak still sits on top. It’s a perfectly pleasant wine, with oak still dominating the flavor. That probably won’t change much. But there is pleasure to be had from the ripe, pruney fruit and gentle tannins. | 87
