Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve | One of the high points of the vintage in the Médoc. Remarkably harmonious body, refined texture, firm but ripe tannins, showing length and complexity, with the advantage of opening up before the 2015 or 2016. Tasted twice. | 95
Michael Schuster | A fine, scented, very gravelly nose, you barely smell the ripe black fruit; medium-full, fresh, firm but fine-textured tannin; a lovely fresh balance, elegant, easy, long to taste, fairly marked in ripe raspberry fruit and, like the nose, a marked minerality; taut, fine, linear, very long to taste, a slight austerity perhaps, but not lean—rewarding, fine, complex. A very Calon duality of refinement and firmness. As usual, it will reward plenty of bottle age. 2030–45+. | 91–93+
