Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve | All power, as is often the case, with lovely roundness of texture and well-extracted tannins. It will have gained in finesse in a year’s time. Tasted twice. | 93

Michael Schuster | Black-red; dense, ripe red and black fruit and mineral; fresh, fairly concentrated, finely and firmly tannic; a fresh, tasty red-fruit ripeness and a close-grained complexity, mineral, close-knit, long and even within the firm tannins, long and mineral to finish. Very nice, without being grand; a richer, plusher version of its 2008? Excellent, classic claret that will take a while to come round. 2026–40. | 92–93
