Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve | Late frosts affected Cheval Blanc, but not everywhere. Because of this, the property was able to create a grand vin that is more dominated by Merlot than usual. However, the cru retains its exceptional freshness, its refined energy, and its scintillating brilliance. | 96
Michael Schuster | Dense, florally Cabernet Franc fragrant; rich, fresh, subtly firm superfine tannins, a beautifully textured balance, poised, elegant, gorgeously cut and defined; long, racy, and vital, sweet yet delicate, profound and subtle, an intensity without force, depth without any sense of fruit concentration as such, rather a prolonged perfumed presence, absolutely effortless and with terrific aromatic persistence. Not a big, rich, velvety Cheval of the likes of 1990 or 1998, but a great beauty, with the expressive force, purity, and definition of a fine single-line drawing. Classic refined Cheval. Likely to be accessible with pleasure relatively early, but with a long life, too. 2028–50+. | 95–97
