Michael Schuster | Dark purple; closed yet dense to smell, fresh black-cherry ripe, and mineral fragrant; rich and concentrated, vital and finely tannic, a substantial constitution, and yet also effortless; rich, generous, sweet, and vigorous all at once, with a certain sinew for a Vosne, long, intense, vital, tasty, that vigorous acidity enhancing the flavors all the way; enormous complexity for a premier cru, relatively powerful for Vosne, and with an intensely aromatic finish, resplendent with scent above the fruit. This has notable substance for Vosne (that meager topsoil atop a hard, root-accessible, fissured limestone?) and a quality that, tasted blind, you could but put as a grand cru (that proximity to La Romanée?). Like all these wines, a remarkable performance at the level, but that will require, and hugely reward, time. Exhaustingly good. 2027–45+. | 95–96
