Jesús Barquín | Deep, almost opaque cherry. Intense nose with black licorice. Concentrated but with earthy tannins and good acidity. Long finish with wild berries and menthol notes. | 94
Andrew Jefford | Saturated midnight-black: no sign of age whatsoever here yet. Fine scents, too: real perfumed, cologne-like refinement, with what seems to me to be very successful oaking. The primary fruit has retreated, but the scents of full maturity are still a few years away: lots to wait for here. On the palate, this is deep yet fresh, structured yet warm and rich; another wine where Bierzo almost seems to strike a Bordeaux-like balance in the mouth. Poised, balanced, elegant, lively, drinkable: very fine. Absolutely nothing at all missing. Fruit, tannin, “mineral” notes, warmth and freshness alike—it’s all here. Bravo! | 94
Richard Mayson | Very deep, opaque, and still youthful in appearance; surprisingly tight-knit on the nose with—I suspect, more to give—underlying polished fruit. More approachable on the palate than on the nose; firm, well-structured cherry- stone fruit; some flesh on the bones here, with well-integrated oak and a big, firm, savory finish. Some substance here: depth and breadth. | 92
