Jesús Barquín | Deep, almost opaque cherry. The nose is youthful, fresh, and fruit-driven, still with an echo of fermentation aromas that blurs it somewhat. As it warms up, the oak notes become more prominent. On the palate, firm earthy tannins, good balance, oak returning on the finish. | 92
Andrew Jefford | Saturated dense black-red. Excitingly pure, fresh blackberry fruit, sweet yet vital, with a perfumed style (orange, petitgrain, bergamot). Limpid and vital on the tongue, too, with ample brambly ripeness balanced by a vivacity and freshness that comes not simply from the wine’s acidity but from the firm, sweet tannins and the energy of the fruit itself. Concentrated, poised, and shapely in the mouth. While the fruit is in the driving seat at present, there is an innate complexity and grain to this wine that bodes very well for the future. Almost a creaminess, indeed. And absolutely no oak discernible. An outstanding young fresh Bierzo, packed with charm. | 93
Richard Mayson | Very deep youthful opaque color; still quite closed but showing refined cherry-stone fruit on the nose; tight-knit on the palate, firm gravelly tannins still masking sour morello-cherry fruit flavors, and a firm finish, too. Still needs another year or two in bottle. | 86
