BUY THE WINE

Jesús Barquín | Deep, almost opaque cherry. Expressive nose, with notes of cedar, berries, and citrus. The palate displays good concentration and extraction to a fault, with tight tannins and excessive oak presence. | 88

Andrew Jefford | Deep, dark, dense black-red. Lively, savory- bacon scents with some evident oak, too; quiet dark fruits beneath. Attractive and characterful. On the palate, this is vivid, classy, and fresh, and the oak actually works well, lending it an urbanity that some might relish in place of the primal challenge of some of the other styles. Deft, well-managed tannins, and fruit qualities both fresh and lively yet sweet, too. A very good, very presentable Bierzo. | 90

Richard Mayson | Deep, youthful color; the aroma is almost Bordelais, with a savory, cedary character on top of the berry fruit; soft initially, firm ripe fruit on the palate, with savory oak, good acidity, and supple length, a little bit flashy in this context, but none the worse for that. | 90
