BUY THE WINE

Jesús Barquín | Deep cherry. The only wine in the tasting that is not opaque in the glass. Funky nose, not entirely clean, with marked feral notes. The palate shows a light and fresh structure, but is a tad hollow, especially on the finish. A second bottle proves no better. | 70

Andrew Jefford | Now a clear, translucent red-black. Rather a pongy, reductive nose, alas, which doesn’t invite sipping. Muddled and wholly unpalatable wine, I’m afraid. | 73

Richard Mayson | Paler than most of the wines here but still youthful in hue; very thin, green, stalky, vegetal aromas and flavors. Smells like a sewer. Going nowhere. | 70
