Alex Hunt | Lean and dusty on the nose despite the higher alcohol. Alcohol and acidity both make themselves known on the palate, but the fruit is slack and insufficiently energetic to take the lead. The result feels hollow and dilute despite the intrinsic body. | 81
Andrew Jefford | Deep, clear black-red. Sweet and simple red-fruit appeal here. Grassy-curranty on both nose and palate, though it is balanced and rounded and perfectly drinkable. There’s some textural wealth and depth and a little licorice on the finish. Lots to like, in sum; but if it were from Burgundy, you would say it was a lesser vintage... It doesn’t quite have the perfect ripening profile one hopes for. | 87
Anthony Rose | Good depth of color, fresh and attractively perfumed, with dark red-berry fruits just starting to show signs of evolution. Nice, supple, opulent dark-cherry and loganberry fruit on the palate, good concentration and a degree of power, though not overwhelming; there’s grip and background oak-spice but all nicely proportioned in a wine that’s starting to drink well and should maintain this level of drinkability for a good few years. | 89
