BUY THE WINE

Alex Hunt | Unpleasantly reduced and feral-smelling. Acid-led palate without much depth of flavor. Simple and a bit tart. | 78

Andrew Jefford: Dark, purposeful red-black. Some oak; a little reduction; rather recessive fruit, with a hop-flower note. Basic red-fruits but nothing very Pinot-like about this, and the delivery is not impeccable. | 77

Anthony Rose | Good youthful ruby; a tad meaty on the nose, seemingly a touch reduced, this shows youthful dark cherry-fruit sweetness on the palate, a black-cherry fruitiness that’s quite opulent and concentrated, with a weight and texture whose tannins are beginning to show suppleness and a savory dry finish. It’s a wine with a fair degree of extraction—hence the almost chewiness of texture—but it also brings that saving grace of mid-palate weight and, given a year or two, should soften down nicely. | 89
