BUY THE WINE

Simon Field: Subtle but serious on the nose: savoury notes and hints of wood smoke and coffee beyond the fruit. Palate is hedonistic, rich and fruity; at the moment rather too fleshy, and tannins almost ridiculously soft, but it will not lack admirers. 17.5

Richard Mayson: Closed, sullen, not giving a great deal away on the nose, a hint of s lightly burnt fruit with underlying intensity. Rich and powerful in the mouth with solid, foursquare tannins rising. Still quite raw but should come together well. 16.5

Jancis Robinson: Purplish crimson. Pruney nose with quite high volatility. Some peppery notes and great, integrated intensity; pretty dry finish. Neat and sophisticated and compact. Should do well in the end, without being an absolute standout. Some fresh vegetation on the finish. 16
