BUY THE WINE

Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve: Classical notes of cedar and spice on the nose; lots of sap; a typically Pauillac tannic profile in terms of fat and energy; and a very long follow-through on the palate. This is a wine that should offer spectacular value for money, from a growth that continues to make good progress and is now one of the best in its class. 16

Margaret Rand: Tannic, and slightly lacking in fruit. The finish is long and spicy, but there’s something rather subdued about it all at the moment. 16
