Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve: A great and uncompromising wine that avoids any trace of hardness. On the contrary, the very high proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon (90%) adds shapely roundness to its haughty, refined texture, supplying ultra-pedigree tannins that will see it through a great and glorious ageing. Yet again, the tone is set for the entire Médoc appellation by a Margaux more vinous than in its 2001 or 2002 incarnations and plainly destined to become a vintage classic. 19
Margaret Rand: A very classic, elegant, confident Margaux, with sweet fruit, dense and concentrated, underlying silky tannins. There are flavours of tobacco, roasted coffee and spices. 19
Michael Schuster: Pure minerally Cabernet nose. Concentrated, medium-weight wine, with a fresh acidity and exceptionally fine tannin – a perfectly harmonious balance combining velvety richness, restraint and freshness. Deep, resonant and refined red and black fruit flavour. A very pure and graceful expression of freshly ripe Cabernet Sauvignon and Médoc minerality, beautifully focused, effortlessly long and scented. Density, grace, transparency, fragrance. Remarkable Margaux. 19
