Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve: A complete contrast to the Trottevieille, this sample was rough-hewn, lacking aromatic precision and not as forcefully constituted as it should be. Another sample tasted a few days later at Moueix was fresher and more interesting. In this instance, the finesse of texture and (relative) tannic softness were more promising than the body, vigour or sap. Bear in mind, however, that, unlike a good many others, this one included no element of press wine. 15
Michael Schuster: Light, ripe-cherry and mineral nose. Nicely balanced, middleweight, fresh and firmly tannic. A very nice fresh, ripe black-cherry flavour, quite fleshy at its core for Magdelaine; pure and minerally, long across the palate and long to finish. Another fine, limestony côte wine, but in a fairly austere tannic frame, so it will be a long wait. 16+
