Oz Clarke: Fairly full red. Nose round, rather fat fruit and oak. Palate is pretty broad-shouldered stuff, but that’s not such a bad thing in Napa – broad fruit, broad texture, broad tannin. The fruit is solid-but-attractive black plum and olive and a touch of mint. It’s a pretty good Cab with a good fruit finish, though not that memorable, and with fair tannin and oak. 16.5

Alex Hunt: Herbaceous at first, then focused raspberry/mineral aromas. Unusual for Cabernet – maybe some Franc in here? Either way, this has an invigorating and decidedly un-Napa structure: lean, compact, yet ripe and flavoursome. Refreshing, almost lemony acidity and a well-tuned firmness promise interesting development in the cellar. Individual and successful. 17

Margaret Rand: A touch clumsy after the Charles Krug Vintage Selection, but vigorous, muscular and with good fruit. The tannins are silky, and there’s a nice vegetal (not green) touch to the fruit. Vigorous, good finish. 16.5
