BUY THE WINE

Oz Clarke: Good, strong, nice oak richness, but full fruit, too. The oak and the fruit seem to be in harmony here: it’s a powerful, deep, international mix of ripe plum and black cherry, just a tinge of olive and good, expensive oak gloss. Powerful, deep and ‘international’, yet the fruit does remain rooted in Napa, so it works. 17.5

Alex Hunt: Lots of toasty, creamy oak. Lots of fruit. Lots of alcohol. Lots of tannin. It’s actually well balanced, there’s just so much of everything. A wine for those who strongly believe more is more. Not subtle. 14.5

Margaret Rand: Tarry, ripe, with soft tannins. Approachable and very modern, very polished and with fair complexity. Well balanced. A good wine that respects its own limits, but – given that these are top Cabs – it probably costs far more than it tastes. 16
