Oz Clarke: Fairly deep, rich, good, dark, strong black plum and cherry, with a little attractive sun-dried tomato. Good, slight milk-chocolate mellowness and attractive savouriness with black-chocolate smear of bitterness that enhances rather than detracts. This is really rather a good, strutting kind of California red. 17

Alex Hunt: Minty, spicy, oaky nose. Full-on, heavy style – a blockbuster, for sure. More length and complexity wouldn’t go amiss. 14.5

Margaret Rand: Cooked fruit with not much juice left – dried out and raisiny. Tannins pretty dry, too, and hot. Big and rather coarse. 11
