Stephen Brook: Very deep red. Blackcurrant-jelly nose, quite exuberant. Fine attack, has vibrancy and freshness; ripe tannins sustain the bright black fruits. Zesty and enjoyable, if not profound or super-concentrated, and eminently drinkable. Has more weight and complexity than its neighbor d’Armailhac, as is usually the case. Has a long, delicate, almost racy finish. 15.5
Andrew Jefford: Dark black-red. Subtle, graceful, refined, and cedary. Not too much of anything, yet just enough of everything. Stylistically cut from the same cloth as d’Armailhac, yet with a much better core of fruit that carries the wine into the midterm. That fruit is cool yet ripe, tapered, elegant, fresh-finishing, dapper, leaving the mouth clean and refreshed. 15
