Andrew Jefford: Slightly lighter colours than the other grands crus, yet just how immaterial this is can be quickly gauged by its astonishing aromatic power and grandeur of flavour. The aromas are warm, supple, savoury and meaty, almost a jus-like concentration of the year’s solar force; the palate opens with a bugle call of fruit, sweet, pure and clear, which gradually sinks towards a finely structured, lingering, almost chocolatey finish. Complete wine whose impeccably extracted tannins and liveliness of fruit will ensure a longer life than most.
