Andrew Jefford: Unusually darkly coloured. The aromas of this wine seem to be marking time; lacy cherry scents hint at a more expressive future. Intense and weighty on the palate, with exceptionally well- integrated tannins for 2003, giving the ripe, rich seam of fruit a spicy style and an ample, aromatically powerful finish. Good wine, though the Chapelle- Chambertin offers better value.
