Neil Beckett: Attractive nose, very impressive for a village lieu-dit. A nutty, slightly roasted edge, but still enough black cherry fruit to have an Amarone- or Port-like richness. After such a fanfare, a lighter entry than expected, with balanced acidity and dry but not hard tannins, and still plenty of bright fruit shining through. Dry end finish of moderate length, but enough succulence not to seem parched or stretched. Well-made wine, and an exceptional Savigny, avoiding the excesses into which too many other wines of the vintage have fallen.
