Stephen Brook: Very deep red. Hefty dark- chocolate nose. Very rich and juicy. Fine acidity balances the ripe plummy fruit. Very co ncentra te d, with pow erful tannins. This doesn’t seem like pure Sangiovese. A bit too extracted but an impressive mouthful. Good length. 18.5

Alison Buchanan: Deeply coloured garnet-ruby, with a garnet rim - richly textured. Rather decadent nose of spice, polish, leather and au tum nal-fruit com pote. Savoury notes of black pudding, too. The palate is seductively textured - plump, ripe and sweet - rather than modern in style, but fruit is to the fore rather than a bludgeoning by oak. There is primary fruit on the palate despite the savoury note. The finish is a little shorter than the palate would have suggested initially. 15
