Nicolas Belfrage: What a jump from the Castello Vichiomaggio ! A real Sangiovese! Lovely acid-fruit combination, good type and good length. Immensely drinkable and enjoyable now, without any great future. 16

Stephen Brook: Fairly deep red. Reserved nose, inexpressive. Rich, sweet fruit, but it has vigour and freshness. Lively and peppery. Not hugely complex but enjoyable and balanced, this has an attractive purity and persistence. Good length. 17

Alison Buchanan: Black-shot garnet - hot metal. Spirit and varnish immediately apparent on the nose, with little obvious fruit character. The palate is much more uplifting, with seductive autumnal-fruit com pote refreshed by clean acidity and vital tannins - good balance. Rather elegant, though very sweet. A long, sweet finish. 16.5
