Nicolas Belfrage: Deep colour. Not a very distinctive nose, probably waiting to come out, because the palate is pow erful and brooding, with those modern elements ‘coffee and dark chocolate' mingling with concentrated but not particularly typical fruit. This has enough to go further but is not ‘Tuscan’. 15.5
Stephen Brook: Opaque red, surprisingly dark! Dense nose, closed, with a slight espresso tone. Very rich, opulent, concentrated palate, with firm acidity. Still youthful and new oaky. Quite extracted but should develop well. Good length, with a chocolaty finish. 17.5
Alison Buchanan: Again, a black ruby - opaque, really, withatight rim. Very closed on the nose, with just hints of rubber. The palate is highly extracted - I presume minimal production. Very dense and very concentrated, but the fruit is not obvious. It needs so much time - will it ever be ready? A bit of a monster really, and yet on the mid-palate there is a profusion of primary aromas that really gives some interest. Complex and monstrous. My mark is awarded on the basis that it all still has to happen. 17
