Stephen Brook: Fairly deep red. Classic Sangiovese nose of cherries - pure and lively. Quite rich and ripe but with pungent acidity. It tastes like a high-altitude Chianti (for example, Volpaia) and demands food. A bit lean but very persistent. I am giving it the benefit of my slight doubts. 18

Alison Buchanan: Deep black ruby-garnet. Very spiritous aromas of varnish, autumnal dried fruit and blood pudding. Very sweet palate and yet drying out, with grubby rubber notes. Very concentrated but dry palate of leather and spice. It seems out of balance and I cannot see when or how it will come together. 14
