Stephen Brook: Very deep red. Rich, ripe, oaky nose, packed with fruit - black cherries. Rich, but it has high acidity that gives a slight astringency and a lean aftertaste. It needs time to settle down, but the balance is questionable. Good length. 15.5
Alison Buchanan: Quasi-opaque, black plum, with a firm colour to the very fine rim. Very rich texture, clinging to the glass. The nose is slightly grubby - polish, varnish. A bizarre palate. The tannins are there - ripe and chewy - but almost obscured by an abundance of ripe fruit that had not come through on the nose. Rich and ripe, concentrated and luscious. I dropped a point or so due to the grubbiness on the nose. 16.5
