Nicolas Belfrage: Medium-deep colour. Mature nose of good intensity. Round and reasonably soft, with good if not great character. This has follow-through and some length. An agreeable drink without being of the best. 15

Stephen Brook: Fairly deep red. Fresh, sour-cherry nose that has finesse. Medium -bodied, silky texture. Fresh and attractive. Good acidity sustains it. Not extracted, and well balanced. A good medium -term wine, satisfying though not great. Quite good length. 17.5

Alison Buchanan: Deeply coloured, richly textured brilliant black-ruby with a garnet rim. Very sweet pastry-shop nose of toffee, bananas and sultanas, rather than a vinous nose. Concentrated but dried fruit on the palate, with a slightly spiritous quality. Supple fruit when retasted, but a wee bit grubby. 12
