BUY THE WINE

Nicolas Belfrage: Correct Sangiovese style, acid-fruit, but a little less intense than the previous wine, though having very good fruit character. 16

Stephen Brook: Deep red. Closed nose. Rounded and supple, like sinking into a plump cushion. This has some acidity and tannin, too, yet lacks vigour and elegance. Quite good length, with a chocolaty finish. 14.5

Alison Buchanan: Ruby-garnet, with very slight garnet notes to the rim. Limpid. Very dusty, rather unpleasant nose of dried blood and dried autumnal fruit. Rather thin, aged, dry fruit on the palate - perfumed, but rather a stale perfume, like potpourri. Rather an old-fashioned, dried-out style - and thin. 9
