Simon Field: Ruby-rich colouring. Seductive and plump nose with floral notes underlining the summer fruits. A hint of smoke and coffee, then a palate that is confident, well integrated and nicely balanced. The sweetness is not overwhelming here - this is a wine with an accessible character and enough backbone to presage evolution and underwrite quality. 17
Andrew Jefford: Red-black, medium glycerol. Very refined aromas: elegant, fragrant, a whiff of tannins and skins and Douro dust, rather than belting out the lush fruit. Rich and sweet here, with the fresh fruits a little more reticent than I had expected. A lovely burst of peppery tannin. Classic Port in a terrific vintage. 16
Richard Mayson: Good deep centre, thin purple rim. A rather rustic nose. Soft and sweet, but simple and a bit edgy. Firm tannins but lacks depth, 10.5
