BUY THE WINE

Simon Field: Firm authoritative colour, spicy nose with black cherry and cigar box. Slightly austere minerality to lend gravitas. On the palate, there is good integration of tannin and fruit, with a broad, slightly lazy mouthfeel and firm acidity on the finish. A floral backdrop gives pleasure with a degree of eloquence. 15.5

Andrew Jefford: Dark, blood red; no longer opaque. Dense, close-woven aromatic profile, with creamy fruits. Vivid, mouth-filling, spicy fruits; quite fat, almost savoury finish. Generously styled fruits, but relatively swift finish and no sense of multidimensioned power. 14

Richard Mayson: Mid-deep ruby centre, thin purple rim. Still closed and withdrawn. Slightly floral with more to give. Attractive, fleshy fruit balanced by firm tannins rising in the mouth. Very pure fruit flavours on the finish. Not a heavyweight but a very attractive wine for the medium term. 15.5
