BUY THE WINE

Tim Atkin : Youthful, intense ruby/purple. Bright, cassis and vanilla-scented nose with ripe but not overripe characters. Good varietal character on the palate, with cassis and plum fruit supported by refreshing acidity. A well-made, medium-bodied wine in which oak, fruit and acidity are well integrated. 15.5

Oz Clarke: Immediately quite oaky on the nose, but it's attractive, integrated, sweet oak. On the palate, pretty good. The oak is quite evident but integrated. There’s rather an attractive Ribera del Duero-style butteriness. The tannin is quite bitter chocolate and obvious, but again it seems to be integrated and there is decent acid. Dark, dry, black olive and black cherry, and a hint of fern. This is good, balanced, slightly severe Cabernet that will age well for 5-7 years and get some perfume too. The acid is just a little high, almost balanced by the butter-cream oak. 16.5

Michael Schuster: Deep purple; dumb, cedary nose, faint mineral; medium-full, fresh acidity, light dry tannin; bright, red-berry Cabernet-fruit flavour of modest scope and good, light length. Nice in a lighter style. Youngish vines? 15
