BUY THE WINE

Michael Schuster: Strong, full-bodied, sinewy wine with abundant tannin; severe at the moment and certainly lacking the fleshy appeal of the Clerc Milon from the same stable. 15+?

Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve: Oaky and truffly, with mouth-filling roundness and flesh, freshness, class and silky tannins. This year’s wine adds the characteristic strength of the 2003 vintage to a refined bouquet and texture that are always impressive. Not quite as fleshy as a Mouton, but close - and superb value for money into the bargain. Highly recommended. 17
