Michael Schuster: Dense, mineral-dominated nose; rich, finely tannic, elegantly balanced medium-weight; very refined, pure, sweet core of mineral-infused blackberry fruit; not particularly voluminous or fleshy but prolonged, close-knit, graceful, complex and very persistent. Dense and fine, splendid Cheval in a firm, linear style. 18+

Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve: Less imposing body and texture than the Ausone, but very refined with good length, complexity and flavours. A welcome return to a decent proportion of Cabernets for this cru, which has started out more typical of its terroir than the 2000. 18/19
