Nicolas Belfrage: Medium-deep. Some volatility (positive) on the nose, fruit and spice rather than flower. More floral, however, on the palate, firm acid and ripe tannins, a wine that creeps upon you and surprises, as good Barolo should. Good balance and long finish; one of the better 1997s. 16.5

Simon Larkin : Deep in appearance, this shows silky refinement as well as some new oak elevage on the palate. There is deep-knit cherry fruit on the palate, an assertive structure and terrific vibrancy on the finish. 15.5
